Airport transfers
The leg where visitors most often overpay. It is priced as a fixed total, not on the meter — settle the figure before the boot closes, whether you take the rank or pre-book.
City to city
A private car between towns is quick and door to door, and roughly ten times the bus fare. Worth it for a group, a late arrival or an awkward connection; rarely worth it for one person.
Day trips & sights
Waiting time is usually included in the quote for these, but confirm how long — a driver who expects forty minutes at Blagaj and gets two hours will want more money at the end.
How these prices are put together
Every range here starts from a real input — a published operator tariff where the city has one, a transfer company's own quoted price where it does not, and the road distance in both cases. We then widen it, because the same 6 km hop is quoted differently at 07:00 and at 23:00, and a driver returning empty from 240 km away charges for that empty leg whether or not it appears on the quote.
What this means in practice: use the figure to recognise a fair quote, not to argue a driver down to the bottom of the range. A quote inside it is normal. A quote at double it, offered by someone who approached you rather than someone you called, is the situation these pages exist for.

Frequently asked questions
Does the meter run on an airport or intercity ride?
Usually not. City rides are metered and regulated; anything leaving the city is quoted as a total before departure, because the driver is pricing an empty return leg as well as your journey. That is legitimate — it is what makes a 130 km ride cost what it costs. What is not legitimate is agreeing nothing and settling at the destination.
Why is the price a range rather than one figure?
Because the honest answer is a range. The same route differs with the car size, the hour, whether the driver has a return fare booked, and how much luggage goes in. A single number would look more confident and be wrong more often. Quotes inside the range printed here are normal; a quote far above it is worth declining and calling a dispatch company instead.
Is the bus much cheaper?
Dramatically, for one or two people — a coach seat on Sarajevo → Dubrovnik costs a small fraction of the private car. The car wins on time of day, door-to-door luggage and group size. Check departures at redvoznje.ba before you book a transfer for a long leg.
Can I pay a transfer driver by card?
Assume cash in convertible marks unless the company confirmed otherwise when you booked. Some transfer firms accept cards or euros; a taxi taken off a rank almost never does. If a driver does accept euros, agree the exchange rate before you set off — it will be the driver's rate, not the fixed 1.95583.
Which routes cross a border?
The Dubrovnik legs enter Croatia, which brings licensing, a passport check and a currency change into it, and not every Bosnian taxi may legally complete the drop-off. What to check before booking one →
