How to book & pay

Call a local taxi company, use the Moj Taxi app, or pre-book a private transfer (best for airports and long trips). Agree the price before you leave. For inter-city trips the meter is often not used. Bring cash in BAM; card is not guaranteed.

What the drive is actually like

Mostar to Dubrovnik is about 140 km down the Neretva and then along the coast, crossing into Croatia. It takes around two and a half hours without hold-ups, but in summer the border can add an hour. Part of the route passes through Neum, Bosnia's only stretch of coast.

Bring your passport/ID and check with the driver who covers any wait at the border. As a fixed international transfer, agree the price in advance; for a single traveller the bus is much cheaper.

What specifically goes wrong on this route

First, check the operator is licensed for international work — not every local company is. Second, agree what happens if you sit at the border: someone pays for that time, and it is better to know who before you set off. Third, carry travel documents for everyone, children included. For a solo traveller the direct bus is far cheaper.
