Mostar → Pocitelj

Estimated taxi/transfer price, journey time and how to book.

Počitelj is a fortified Ottoman-medieval village on the left bank of the Neretva, about 30 km south of Mostar on the road towards the coast. Its stone town with the Sahat tower and Hadži-Alija mosque climbs the hillside and is one of the most photographed spots in the Neretva valley.

How to book & pay

Call a local taxi company, use the Moj Taxi app, or pre-book a private transfer (best for airports and long trips). Agree the price before you leave. For inter-city trips the meter is often not used. Bring cash in BAM; card is not guaranteed.

What the drive is actually like

Počitelj sits on the M-17 road south, about thirty kilometres from Mostar — a fortified Ottoman village climbing a steep slope above the Neretva. The drive is quick, but the place itself is vertical: from the road to the tower it is stairs, uphill.

Počitelj is right on the main M-17 road, so it combines easily with Blagaj or Kravice in one trip. Agree a fixed price with waiting while you climb the village (allow 45-60 minutes).

What specifically goes wrong on this route

Počitelj is usually combined with Blagaj and Kravice into a single outing, and that is also the cheapest way — agree the whole loop with the number of stops and time at each, rather than three separate rides. If you are only coming here, ask whether the driver waits; you can catch a bus back from the main road, but that means waiting roadside with no shade.
