Getting around Bihać
Arriving
Bihać is in the far northwest corner of the country on the river Una, and it is more isolated from the rest of Bosnia than any other city of its size — Zagreb is closer than Sarajevo. Several Croatian border crossings are within a short drive, which is how most visitors actually arrive.
The draw is the river: Una National Park, the Štrbački buk falls upstream, rafting, and guesthouses strung along the water well outside town. None of that is served by useful public transport. We list only a small number of companies here, though the ones we have run around the clock, which counts for something in high season.
What to sort out before you pay
For anything on the river, agree the return trip with a fixed time and place at the same time as the outbound one. For border crossings, check the driver is licensed to cross. And if you are coming from elsewhere in Bosnia, be realistic: Bihać is a long way off the country's main north–south axis, and a car for that journey is expensive against the bus.
