How to book & pay

Call a local taxi company, use the Moj Taxi app, or pre-book a private transfer (best for airports and long trips). Agree the price before you leave. For inter-city trips the meter is often not used. Bring cash in BAM; card is not guaranteed.

What the drive is actually like

About 130 km via Kladanj, over mountain passes and with no motorway for most of it — roughly two hours in summer, longer in winter when the roads slow down. This is not a level valley run like the Neretva corridor but a sequence of climbs and descents, so the drive is more tiring than the mileage suggests.

For one or two people, compare the fixed taxi price with the direct Tuzla-Sarajevo buses, which run several times a day; for a group a shared transfer is competitive.

What specifically goes wrong on this route

This relation is mostly wanted by passengers off flights into Tuzla, so it tends to be agreed in a hurry, right after landing and often at night. That is the worst possible moment to negotiate. If you know you are going to Sarajevo, arrange transport before you land, and check whether the price is per car or per person. Buses run this route regularly and are far cheaper for one person.
