Tuzla Airport → Sarajevo

Estimated taxi/transfer price, journey time and how to book.

Although the airport is in Tuzla, many arrivals are actually headed for Sarajevo - about 120 km via Kladanj and mountain passes, roughly two hours. This is a long fixed route, not a quick airport transfer, so settle the price and payment before you set off.

How to book & pay

Call a local taxi company, use the Moj Taxi app, or pre-book a private transfer (best for airports and long trips). Agree the price before you leave. For inter-city trips the meter is often not used. Bring cash in BAM; card is not guaranteed.

What the drive is actually like

This is the most expensive misunderstanding at any Bosnian airport. Tuzla to Sarajevo runs via Kladanj and mountain passes, roughly two hours, with no motorway for most of it — slower in winter. Plenty of passengers land at Tuzla believing they are "near Sarajevo". They are not.

If you're travelling alone, compare the fare with the direct shuttle/bus services from Tuzla airport to Sarajevo that are timed to flights; for two or three people a shared taxi can work out well.

What specifically goes wrong on this route

Before you agree, check whether the price is per car or per person — on this route that is where the unpleasant surprise usually comes from. There are also scheduled shuttle buses timed to the flights, incomparably cheaper for one or two people. A car makes sense if there are several of you, if you are travelling with children, or if your flight was late and the bus has gone.
