Is there Uber in Sarajevo?
No. Uber does not operate in Sarajevo - or anywhere in Bosnia & Herzegovina. Neither do Bolt, Lyft or FreeNow. The ride-hailing market is closed to them, so the local equivalent is the Moj Taxi app, or you simply call a licensed taxi company.
What to use instead
- Moj Taxi app - the closest thing to Uber. Shows the car on a map, the driver name and plate, and charges the regulated meter (no surge). It aggregates several local associations. Caveat: it often fails for visitors - foreign cards get rejected, you may see “server error” or “no taxi available”, and sign-up can be gated by a local phone number. Always have a phone number as backup.
- Call a dispatch company - the reliable option. The car arrives in minutes and the meter is regulated. See trusted Sarajevo companies & numbers.
- Hail / airport rank - fine, but ask for the meter first. The one situation to watch is an unmetered flat quote at the arrivals stand.
